Brown Girls Blog

Hello all,
Wow, it's been a while since I have posted a blog or updated this site! Things have been pretty busy over the last few months and I keep saying, write a blog, write a blog, update your site! But as fast as the thought comes to mind, it disapears among my daily hussle and bussle. But I am going to make it a priority from now on. Soo, whats been new in our lives? Well, we had an addition to our family! A baby boy! Although his ears are huge and he is very hairy, we still love him!
Picture
His name is Geezer. I know, I know, its a interesting name. Although sometimes in the right light he does look like a old man, he is actually named for a member of the band Black Sabbath. Maybe you heard of them? Probably not, hopefully they get there big break someday! ;) His full name is actually Geezer Jenkins Alaze Tereherst Uncle Garth Uncle Gill Marteney. Right now he is 4 and 1/2 months, just a baby. He is going through his terrible two's right now, but we still love him, sometimes. He is 3/4 Chihuahua and 1/4 Dachshund. He's been a wonderful addition to our family.Kitty Magity isn't as happy with the new addition as the rest of the family is though. She can be a little jealous sometimes, understandably so.

Michael wasn't able to get financial aid for summer term this year, because of some stupid thing with him going 5 terms already. So we have both been looking for jobs all summer. our summer jobs have been looking for summer jobs so far, and its already August. All summer I have been trying to keep Michael motivated to go back fall term and finish up his Accounting degree. He keeps flip floping on going back. Mind you he's been in college for 374974739489385957398573 years and has 3263347348374837837 degrees. No, no, its only been 7 or 8 years and only about 3 degrees. Of course they are all ones that are pretty much obsolete in this day and economy, i.e Sociology. This is why he is going back for accounting. It is a straight foward degree, that you have a fighting chance of actualy snagging a job with. I think he is losing his motivation though. We will just have to wait and see.

But as of right now, we have little to no income, we are behind on rent, and things aren't looking so good. But things can change in a instant, and we are praying for that change.

  Hello all!
Since I haven't done a blog in a while, I thought I would do a small update! We have had a pretty busy last couple weeks! We have had the worst experience ever with getting our financial aid which we would expect from LCC but not from U of O! We haven't had any problems with them until now! In a nutshell, the first date they said we were supposed to get it was a week later than it should have been, and then on that day, when we went in to get it, they told us it had been Processed, but somehow, out of 500,000 Checks ours was the only one that had been "Forgotten" to be printed! And that there was no way possible to push the Print button that day and we would HAVE to come back on Monday! So we waited all weekend, and had to overdraw the bank to pay bills, which would be ok as long as we could fix it by
4:00pm
on Monday, which they promised we would get it for sure first thing Monday morning so it should have been ok. Finally Monday rolls around and Michael heads over there and about 15mins later I get the "call" the in shock, I can't believe it, frustrated, angry call from Michael, the same call I got that last Friday! Apparently, this time, they did print the check and had it in there hand, but just 15 mins earlier, they had changed the Policy from being able to pick up your check any day to only being able to pick up your check on Tuesdays and Fridays! Normally, one day wouldn't be a big deal, but our bank was very overdrawn and had to be fixed by 4 that day or we would get hundreds of dollars worth of charges! So we ended up having to borrow the money From Michaels mom (Thank god for her!) surprisingly, after waiting all day on Tuesday and battling with them we actually got the check on Tuesday afternoon! But, because of everything that happened, it was pretty much gone by the time we got it! So that was a really frustrating situation! One awesome thing that happened, was we finally got our iphones!! And I am in love with mine!
They are so much better than I thought they would be! I’m gonna have to write a blog Just about how awesome it is!
If your at the end of your contract and have $198 you should definitely go out and get one! I would say they are probably the best cell phone out there! We are so happy we got them!
It helped with the frustrations of the last couple weeks at least!
Lets see, what else, we just got back from a night in
Portland
! It was really fun, accept My foot was hurting really bad, I'm not sure what's wrong with it, it's really
weird but about once or twice a month I get a really bad horrible pain on the outside of my foot, its so bad that if I put any sort of pressure on it, it just gives out completely and I just fall down! It's like a weird nerve pain, it's really bad, and every time it seems to happen right before we plan to go somewhere fun that involves a lot of walking! So besides My foot,
Portland
was really fun! We got back at around 8 or so last Night and we were both dead to the world, so we just laid around the rest of the night!
Things have been so stressful lately as far as money, jobs, and other similar things. I just can't explain how hard it has been to not feel discouraged and upset! I have said it a Million times but I just can't wait until Michael is done with school! Everything will be so much better then! But for now, I just don't know if we can take much more! That stuff stresses me out too much to talk about it so I better get going for now!

I haven't updated my blog for a while cuz it has been a really busy and stressful couple weeks but I will be writing a lot more, especially now that I have my iphone! It's great for writing blogs!

So I will definitely be talking to you soon!

-Love Tawny Marteney

Hello All,

So, as you may know, today was April Fools Day! Well, technically yesterday was April Fools Day since it's after midnight. I know, I know, I'm a late night blogger! Their's a whole breed of us. Anyways, I have been looking for some good April Fools Day prank ideas to do to Michael.

In the past, I have not been very good at coming up with, or pulling off pranks, of any kind. I'm a horrible liar, and if I know I did some sort of prank, and I'm waiting for him to discover it, then I am acting weird the entire time. I'm looking at him strange, I have a weird smile on my face (the type of smile where your lips are super tight because your trying not to smile with everything in you), I even talk weird, and he always catches on! And that years April Fools is ruined and all I can do is prepare for next years. I train all year, I work out, I practice not smiling, & I time myself  with a stop watch, seeing how fast I can put Saran Wrap on the toilet seat (just under 30 seconds!).

So this year rolls around and I got nothin! I could't think of anything at all! I already attempted the Saran Wrap on the toilet seat and he caught right on! TOne time, I put a rubberband on the sink nozzle, and after what seemed like years, Michael mozied on into the kitchen, then mozied over to the sink, then BAM!!! Unfortunately, that nozzle sprays unusually far. It sprayed through the kitchen, through the dinning room, and drenched the bookshelf all the way on the opposite side of the room. Michael just stood there shell shocked so I had to run in there and I got completely soaked trying to turn off the unusually high pressured nozzle. Maybe it was the flooded house, maybe it was the 100$ worth of books that were ruined, maybe, just maybe, it was the fact that Michael and I had just taken a fully clothed shower, but for some reason... he was not amused.

Soo... rubberband-on-nozzle....never again.

Michael was in class untill 5pm today, which should have been a prime opportunity to attack! However, there was no attack, there was no mind blowing ideas popping into my head, there was nothing. Before I knew it, it was 4:15 pm! I was forced to resort to the internet! I know, its a shame for a April Fools Day champion to have to admit, but I did. I found a few things on the internet, such as meatloaf cupcakes and cookie fish sticks, but my cooking already tastes like these, so I didn't think it would be much of a "prank" to him.

So I moved on to the next site. With a drip of sweat falling off my forehead, I glanced at the clock; 4:30! No! I had to skip the small-beans sites and move onto the big guns!

Unfortunately, since most April Fools Day sites have the words "family fun" in them, they can't really be described as "big guns" and they weren't very helpful. So around 4:50pm I threw the Laptop across the room smashing it into a million pieces, jumped up like a crazy person, grabbed the dish soap and started soaking everything! I poured dish soap all over the door handles, toilet seats, chairs, sink handles, my cat, everything! I then grabbed the scissors and started frantically cutting everything I could find. Well, everything that I could cut & then put it perfectly back together to make it look like it wasnt cut. I then grabbed as many bars of butter we had and mopped the dining room and kitchen floors with them! Then I ran to the cupboard and got the syrup and smeared it on every single soda can in the fridge! 4:58! I heard the first sounds of the key entering the door! Nooo! I freaked out and grabbed a rubberband and threw it around the sink nozzle, did a triple backflip to the couch, just as I made a 10.0 landing, he walked in. I looked around and thought "What did I do!??"

As I was thinking that, I heard a, "what the ---"... It had started...It was a mine field, It was like a car accident, you don't want to look but you can't stop. It was somewhere in between him covering himself in the syrup, falling off the toilet seat and being covered in the kitty poo from the litter box thats right next to the toilet, trying to frantically get out to wash up but only coming up against an impossibly slippery door handle, finally escaping and running into the kitchen just to fall so hard the neighbor 5 doors down had to hear, sliding at least 10 feet, and slamming into the fully fish and rotten egg filled garbage can, that of course, fell right over on top of him, that I remembered.... rubberband-on-nozzle debacle of 2008! Before I could even glance over.... BAM!!!!!!

Soo.. yeah.. I think I'm gonna leave April Fools Day to the professionals next year. I'm just not cut out for it....

however, if he falls asleep before me...that's a different story...

Hello Everyone!

Its really late, or early I should say, and I'm still up. I have always been a night owl. Michael...not so much. That's a problem we have encountered in our relationship. Some of my "bad" habbits. Such as staying up late. I have always stayed up late. My dad has also, I tell Michael it's inherited, but he doesn't believe it. Another bad habit I brought is being a little messy. I admit it, im a bit of a slob. Okay, so slob may be a little harsh. I just have a little problem picking up after myself, it's something I am currently working on. A big one that I even admit is pretty bad is that I am Never on time! I even hate it. I just can't be anywhere on time! I can start getting ready two hours before we have to leave, but somehow when it comes down to 5 minutes before we have to go, everything just falls apart! Their is a million things to do, and when I look at the clock, its like 30 minutes past the time I'm supposed to be there! I just don't understand it! However, I am actively working on all these.

Michael has his share of bad habbits though too. Like for instance, he is the biggest hypochondriac in the world! I have to turn off any commercials or t.v. shows that have any sort of medical condition on them. The second he hears it...he has it! If someone has cancer, he has cancer. If someone has heart problems, he has heart problems, and so on.. I say "go to the doctor babe if you really feel like you have that." but by the next day, he has forgotten about it! Also, he is the biggest worrier in the entire world! He stressed about anything and everything! He is also a premature stresser. He stresses before he even knows if their is something to stress about! It's frustrating sometimes, but I just have to be there to talk him down.

Today was pretty good. It started out stressful, but got a lot better towards the end. Michael started Spring Term today, his first class today was at 8AM, which I'm not too fond of. Just like I am a night owl, I am not a morning person at all. Luckily, he lets me sleep through that one, but all the rest I have to drive him because their isn't any parking at U of O. So he went to that class, and came home and took a nap, then headed off to his second class at 4. We had to be at a family BBQ around 6 at my mammas house, so I was running around getting ready the entire time he was gone. He got home around 5 or 5:30 and we should have been able just to head out to Junction City. Mamma lives in JC, it's only about 15-20mins away from Eugene. Anyways, it was one of those things that anything that can go wrong, does. My hair straightener kept shuting off for no reason, without me knowing! So I would be straightening over the same spot over and over, and it was still a frizzy mess! Everytime it would shut off I wouldn't know, so I would have to wait for it to come back on which took a lot of time. Then, we couldnt find the keys anywhere! We were running around like a chicken with it's head cut off! It turned out I had put them in my sweatshirt pocket, threw it on the floor, and Michael picked it up in a pile of clothes and threw them in the hamper. So that took us forever to find them, and by the time everything was done it was 7:20!! So we rushed out of the house and drove like Maniacs to JC and got there around 7:40 or so. We entered the door to a barage of "Wow! I can't believe Tawnys here before dark!" and " Oh my goodness! She's only a hour and a half late! Thats crazy!"

However, I come from a long line of latees, we all are a bit punctually deficient, so after the little late pokes at me, it wasn't that big of deal. Being late to the In-laws however, not such a good thing. They are punctually efficient, so I have to put a little extra hussle in my bussle going to visit them!

The BBQ was really fun. My aunt that I havent seen in years was there. She is so beautiful, it was nice seeing her again. Her and her beautiful brand new baby. It seems their are new babies everywhere! Everyone around me either is pregnant or just had a brand new baby! It's not fair! I would love to be either one of those right now, but we know at this point it wouldn't be fair to add a little tyke to our family. At least not until Michael finishes school and we are a bit more financially stable. I just have to be patient! I do enjoy this time that Michael and I have together right now. It's just us and our kitty. We enjoy staying up late and sleeping in when we can,  and according to all my friends and family, you kiss that goodbye when the new addition comes, at least the sleeping in part! So I think we will enjoy all the...not being puked on...time we can for a few more years!

Anyways, I better wrap this up and get my butt to bed! Thanks for listening! I'd love to hear from you, leave a comment anytime!

Thanks All,

-Tawny Marteney

First Post! 03/30/2009

 Hello everyone!

To start with, I will explain a little about myself! My name is Tawny Marteney, yes like the drink! I live in Eugene, Oregon. I am 22 years old. I am married to the most wonderful man in the world! His name is Michael. We have been together for over five years and married for over two! Our anniversary is on December 5th, so it's coming up!

Michael is almost done with his Accounting major! Yeahh! I cant wait untill hes a big bad accountant! I just wish SOO bad we could find a way to fast foward time though! He's sooo smart! Did you know last term he got a 4.2 GPA!! I didnt even know thats possible! I didnt even know people even get 4.0 GPAs, let alone 4.2! Hes a genius! :) Its crazy that we have been married for over 2 years now! I never thought I would be married at 22, or get married at 20, but I feel soo blessed that I am! People say, don't you want to go out and go to the bars and party because you are so young? But my thoughts on that are that MOST girls who are out there at the bars and partying are out there looking for what I have. Lookin for a man that they love and that loves them! You know its true! ;) And for the ones who arent looking for that, and who are going just to have fun, I can do the same thing with my husband! So Im happy with it. Being married young is not for everyone, but its what makes me happy! I have my best friend in the whole world, my companion, and my love all in one!

When I was young I always thought of marraige as a boring adult no fun type thing. And it might be for some people, but I never imagined this is what marraige can be! We have sooo much fun together everyday, even when we are super stressed and worried, we are still laughing all the way through it, because we are the funniest people in the world. The best way to describe us is just like when you were 10 years old and your mom let you have a sleep over with your best friend in the whole world! And you are having fun, playing around and laughing all day, and then at night your laying in bed laughing and joking and your mom yells " YOU KIDS SHUT UP OR IM GOING TO SEPERATE YOU!!!" thats what its like for us. We feel like our moms are going to seperate us because were laughing so loud every night! We just have a lot of fun together even when were doing nothing, and thats one of the things I love about us! :) Dont get me wrong, every marraige has its difficulties, but our negatives never out wiegh our positives, and we work to make it better all the time. I love that he loves me even when I act like a little brat (which is hardly ever ;) ) and that he loves me even when my legs are hairy and I look like a Ewok in the morning ( which is never!:) ) And that he loves my bad qualities as much as my good!

I have my Kitty. She is my baby. Her name is Kitty Magity. She is really the craziest cat in the world! She is really like a dog. She knows every trick dogs know, she listens to every comand just like a dog, and I taught her to play the piano! Seriously! Okay I showed her how, then one day Michael and i were in the kitchen and she was playing it!! She was hitting different keys and doing it over and over again on purpose! So it was only one time, and it wasnt a Piano, it was a Air Powered Organ Keyboard thing, but pretty much the same thing. I will NeveR let her out of the house! Way too many things that could get her! Im over protective of her, I really dont know how I would handle it if I lost her, shes my baby. I already lost my other kittys and it killed me! I know it sounds a little crazy, but pets can easily become like children to certian people, and thats how I am.

So... lets see, what have I been up too? Nothing really. Just the same old, trying to find a job, in vain. I have came to the conclusion the ONLY way to get a job nowdays is if you know someone. So that sucks, cuz everyone I know either doesnt have a job, or thier jobs are laying off a bunch of people, so im screwed the whole job hunting situation is sooooooooooo frustrating and discouraging!! But what can you do? I can't give up, I dont have that option right now. I want to go back to school but I have to do an appeal to get my financial aid back, but im workin on it.

Well, this first blog is getting a bit long, I just wanted to give a little run down of me and my life. Its nothing special but its mine and im pretty happy with it, for the most part. I am happy with the people and things in my life, but I think I will be a lot happier with our situation after Michael graduates and I get a job. Then everything will be perfect! Hopefully...

I will try to write in my blog everyday, just giving updates on whats going on, poems, random thoughts ( which I have a lot of btw!) and many other things! Check back and don't forget to leave comments or questions!

Thanks for listening!
